liz knocked the glass jar off the table

liquid on my black shoes

i misspelled amphibian twice

no one paid attention to the shards under the window

eventually, mary asked to go to the bathroom

someone wanted to know the odds of survival

my glove torn at the index finger

scalpels plinked on the floor

surgical pins had the physical nature of dice

frog song: salmon lungs, entrails dragging

the minute hand swung past 13 like a gun to my head

i couldn't quite pull myself together

and i was, in those days, sober
