| | Joan Kimball
Son
He acquires a wheel, throws
his own bowl, plays his theme
with spoons on its rim.
She'll attend when
he floats odd ribbons
of greeting, when earth turns
past day's blue, knuckle memory
into a bowl, fire and glaze it,
play her own tune
as clouds in her sky
race only for her. At night
they'll watch the same stars.
