GOOD FRIDAY
by Tatjana Lukic
a barometer is rising around the nation
after a cool start, it was a nice and fine day
a new fish disease is spreading
down the river
three tonnes of cannabis found
drying under the trees
on a remote farm
twenty five drunk drivers
caught in the town
little white balls are flying above
the paddocks, the game of golf,
the slide show
a defender suffered a broken cheek-
bone at the stadium, a goal, a goal,
a goal
from tbilisi right to our square,
the georgian state dance company
is promising an exhausting night
an alert: school holidays are on again,
kids are on the loose
IDs are double checked around the world
cross processions are starting to move,
slowly, steadily
hallelujah
an easter shower of blood
is storming fallujah
what’s that? the little one is unwrapping
the chocolate egg and staring at the screen
hush, hush, it’s time for bed, it’s time
to count the sheep, it’s a time to kiss and wave
good night, sleep tight, sweety, sleep well
