Hmmm. Seems to me you're saying as much that ingredients (food) is a staple in women's love literature as you're saying love is a staple ingedient in women's literature. A point worth harping upon, imho. Poetry aside, Like Water for Chocolate comes to mind as a vastly overrated amoroculinary chick book.

Technically, I think the presentation of the first part of the second stanza is clumsy. You wanna keep cumulative, but maybe not start with it. Start with After ...
