at least you had cool categories for the cars -- ours were -- most beautiful -- most patriotic -- best scouting theme -- my son just copied the picture on the box -- at least he did the work (mostly) -- we went on the night before the race to have it "impounded" -- they weigh and measure and check the parts -- very anal -- and very different than when my oldest son did it 10 years ago when all that mattered was that the thing didn't weigh more than 5 oz -- this time, they made me move the weights and they made me change all the tires cause they said we sanded them too much -- as if it were going to make any difference -- make his car finish 5th out of 6 instead of 6th. and that night at the church the room was filled with dads working on cars with power tools and not a boy in sight.
