No, that's not it at all.

As opposed to being "for" HC, I am against those who think it must be excluded in order for poems to become accessible.

This may be an age thing. I am old enough to recall my parents' feelings about the old Lewisohn Stadium in NYC during the Depression - in which concerts of classical music were given free - just like Joe Papp's Shakespeare festival at the Delacorte.

Attendance at the Lewisohn and later at the Delacorte indicates that the willigness of "just plain folks" to investigate obscure HC references may be greater than that presumed by "those in a position to know".
