It is not that poems 'ring' true: it is that
truth rings from the poem's bell.

My university freshmen knew that ...

Relay to me your credentials for holding
such a 'doesn't ring-true' view ... not
that credentials are required for a given 'view.'

I'm just curious what they are teaching
nowadays.

Yes, I inderstand the difference-- 'ringing'
true and 'truth.'

Somethat entirely false can 'ring' true.
Something entirely true can 'ring' false.

When this poem's clapper struck the side of
the bell, it rang true to me.

Of course, that's just me ...
