(MY VERSION OF WRITER'S BLOCK...)

This is not a poem, (though it contains
poetic elements, like this break here,
and metered rhyme within it's mock-refrains).
This is not a poem, there is no thing
within it holding life, or joy, or tears
except the words themselves, and they'll not bring
life, or joy, or tears--only a sense
of disappointment to the reader who
expects to find a poem here. Immense
originality of thought and phrase
aren't placing on this page a thing so true
and yet, as yet, unknown it frees the days
that follow from the stiflingly mundane.
No sparkling metaphor or simile
Invite a richer vision of the plain
or ordinary stuff of life, and not
one part of it conveys epiphany
or brings about a shift towards deeper thought.
This is not a poem, and if it could
be called a poem, it couldn't be called good.
