Gee, you thought the movie was terrific? I thought it was duller than dull. I was impressed with Fox's dead-on impersonation of Ray but the story itself, or rather, the plodding methodical way in which it was told, was a complete yawn for me. The only parts of the movie I found at all interesting were the flashbacks. I think you hit the nail on the head with your comments. Try as I might--and this is the 2nd attempt---all I'm doing is relating the scenes I saw instead of making them my own.

Thanks so much for your feedback. Much appreciated, Bill.

: I think the only problematic tension here is
: whether or not you can get away with
: re-enacting a scene/s from 'Ray'- perhaps
: unfortunately, I've recently seen the film
: (which was terrific) and I feel someone
: unattracted to the poem simply because I
: don't feel I got any more (any greater
: transcendence) from the poem than I did from
: watching the scene. Perhaps if you
: concentrated a lot less on describing the
: scene (for if this is to work, I think, it
: must admit what the film has already
: accomplished and move beyond) and a lot more
: on what hasn't been given to us in the film.
: Best of luck,
: Cheers,
: Bill
