Hi Ryan,
Thank you for your comments.
Yes I think you got more out of it than my intent.
Sorry, for me it was just a very simple piece compairing great places being just as great as being in a simple place with someone special.

Thanks again
Rick

: ---comparitive devices....

: currently, i think this is cute. i am sure if
: this was intended for a special someone,
: that person would be very happy.

: one thing to consider is what some of your
: words DO, besides tell the message they are
: meant to tell.

: the speaker wants to travel - so he/she wants
: to be distant from this "you". i
: must ask then, why is staying with the
: special person a good alternative. travel
: implies distance, something very much diff
: from closeness.

: so maybe travel isnt the best way to go. i
: assume the speaker, here, wants to compare
: this "You's" special 'ness with
: some of the magnificant sights around the
: world. so maybe more details about these
: sights?

: like the ruins of Pompeii.

: but ruins? - doesnt that sound like the speaker
: may enjoy destruction, or that which is
: gone. something removed and distant from the
: present.

: well, the above is probably looking into the
: words more than what the poem might call
: for, and some of it is really a stretch on
: my part, BUT - my point still stands...
: there needs to be a good reason for these
: events - that make them equal or less
: special than the speaker's special someone.

: not just a list - i need details - juicy ones -
: if i do not want to walk with this person, i
: should expect that i would at least be
: interested in the comparative device you
: select to make speaker's case.

: thanks
