Painted Bride Quarterly, in circulation since 1973, is a literary magazine that publishes both emerging and established writers from around the world. PBQ does not limit itself in terms of voice, school, or genre; we strive to represent the individual voice, however traditional or exploratory it may be.



Ploughshares

Ploughshares is widely regarded as one of the best literary journals in the country. Known for its compelling fiction and poetry, Ploughshares is published in April, August, and December in quality paperback. Each issue is guest-edited by a prominent writer who explores personal visions, aesthetics, and literary circles. Postmodern Culture

An Electronic Journal of Interdisciplinary Criticism, Postmodern Culture enters the WWW literary world with its Popular Culture column, Book Reviews, the PMC-MOO, articles, and a superb collection of short fiction and poetry. Recently published writers include Rober Coover, William T. Vollman, and Kathy Acker. Postmodern Culture is a member of the Conference of Editors of Learned Journals and of the Association of Electronic Scholarly Journals. Postmodern Culture is published three times a year by Oxford University Press.





Sycamore Review

Purdue University's award-winning national literary journal, Sycamore Review, is now on the Web. Online past issues include some of the strongest and most exciting poetry and fiction the magazine has published. Steve Brock, in a review of the magazine callled it "a continuing source of diverse voices with outlaw ideas." Material from Sycamore Review has appeared in Pushcart Prize anthologies and the magazine was recently given an award for design by the Council of Editors of Learned Journals.




The Literary Review

The Literary Review, An International Journal of Contemporary Writing, has been publishing the best of the world's writing since 1957, introducing new fiction, poetry, and essays from many nations. Forthcoming issues will focus on new translations of Japanese writing, Iranian exiles, the Jewish diaspora, North African authors, and Russian women writers. Fiction provided by The Literary Review includes The Secret by Patrick Keppel, and Three Nightmares by Ilan Stavans.




The Prose Poem

The Prose Poem: An International Journal is published annually by Providence College. It is the only international journal dedicated to the publishing of prose poetry, essays on prose poetry, and reviews of recently published books of prose poems. Recent contributors to The Prose Poem include Robert Bly, Stuart Dybek, Russel Edson, and David Ignatow, among others.




ZYZZYVA

Founded in San Francisco in 1985, ZYZZYVA is one of only a handful of quarterlies to have endured for more than ten years without university support. Publishes writers & artists who live on the West Coast. Two stories in this year's Pushcart, two in Best American Short Stories.
