the planets exist
wombing us in you my wife says
for you remember when we were born
and you remember us from before

we were born to love each other
like satellites coursing through space unfamiliar
with time your love o God a passion
in which you create
poems women and men
intricate incomplete fathers and mothers
in love and lovers
like big bruins who don’t eat one another’s young
so lovely unabused and not abusive they won’t
abandon us

                                                                 iii.6
