Rodin’s The Kiss

How powerfully they spin
the frenzied atoms of love within
desire’s bulge. Bliss

twists and contorts their gut.
The knot of their heat singes
the observer, who marvels

at them a century later
where, blunt and muscled,
they last as art.

And here is a kiss for the lonely
artist, who stripped passion
to dark bone; who forged

their arduous coupling from
the soul’s lack.
