Mudlark No. 46 (2012)

Song

She was lifting a fat song
with one arm upraised

The song clutched
her palm

The other songs flung
out their feathers in praise

The sun hung high
and the day moon grazed

Palm fronds fanned
the song’s heat

It was the blaze
she was lifting

It clutched her palm
Sweat

glazed plump tongue
inner blue gaze

She was lifted into
song fat song
