Mudlark No. 54 (2014)
Soledad Montoya
wears red
Soledad Montoya’s
black hair flows
like a fountain
of crows
hands in front of her
heart a cradle
for grief
the moon
even darker
than its night

her arms crossed
in fury her wide lips
her mantilla of stars
and shiny insects
anger pours out of her hair
she’ll give them more
than they paid for
