Print Annual Four
Issue 76
No theme: Have at it!
Issue 77
Temptation: See image.
Issue 78
Pirates Redux: We had too much ribald fun with last year’s Pirates’
issue; the amount of work we received for the theme tells us we must pirate
our own idea. So…to pilfer our own CFP: There are pirates among us, inexplicably,
undeniably, unavoidably, e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e...the skull and crossbones the
new Nike swoosh. Though they're often enigmatic they're inescapable; it takes
a poet to know a pirate.
We'll consider poetry, fiction, and prose essays, as well as digital images,
etc. on pirates: that includes (but is not limited to) real pirates, virtual
pirates, fictional pirates, historical pirates; piracy -- from ocean marauding
to hi-tech hacking to street-corner tape sales to terrorism to identity theft
(of all kinds).
So, take this as an invitation to come as you aaarrrgh.
Issue 79
The Body: metaphysical, anatomical; political; the electric metaphor for what
moves us, puzzles us, pleases us; site of inquiry and uncertainty; the paradox
of science and mystery; the mechanics of motion; the poetics of meaning and
knowledge; boundaries; intimacy; detachment.
From the carnival freakshow to the museum of natural history; from Rembrandt's "Anatomy Lesson" to Whitman's body sung electric; from tatoos to haikus, the body has been an object of fascination and repulsion, delight and desire, quotidian function and infinite mystery:
PBQ proposes a body of work on the body.
These issues will appear online in the above order, and in Print Annual 4, due
out in early Spring of 2007.
