There are formerly sessile cattle suspended in the air. Imagine the discovery that not all plants are phototropic. Luis, a meat-packer, writhes in agony in the rendering room. There are special employees of the Company, ambulance chasers. It seems that the likeliest candidates for non-phototropic plants are cacti, with their external spines. The ambulance chasers follow men like Luis to emergency rooms, where they offer to foot the bills, on behalf of the Company, for appendage reattachments and internal damage (of various sorts such as lacerated livers) in exchange for a signature. The carcasses begin to drop one by one from the hooks high above. The skinned cattle accumulate. The company is never responsible. Some plants cannot grow toward light, whether we assume that they do or not.
