"Potion: Poetry and Fiction-Kick-Off Bonanza: Sponsored by Gallery 312, featuring Samizdat, Unpleasant Event Schedule, and Painted Bride Quarterly"

Somewhere in the post-industrial Chicago night, far from Oprah's book club, Gallery 312 will host the Potion kick-off event on Friday, March 26th, 9p.m.-12p.m. Included in this reading will be Samizdat, Unpleasant Event Schedule, and South Jersey's own Painted Bride Quarterly. Be prepared for multi-media chaos, a range of poetic voices, and an opportunity to explore the pages of other literary journals. Beer and wine will be available with a donation. Gallery 312 is located 2 miles from the Palmer House in Chicago's west loop, for those involved in AWP.

March 27
The Palmer House Hilton, Chicago

On Saturday, March 27th at the AWP conference in Chicago, Kathy Volk Miller, managing editor of the Painted Bride Quarterly, will participate in a discussion of the connections between on-line publishing and print publishing. A panel of respected members of both on-line and print periodicals will explore "The Space Between Print and Page," and connect the past and the future of publishing. Whether you are a veteran, a newly published writer, or simply dream of showing your work to the world, this discussion will be helpful and informative.  See the AWP website for details.

April 5, Monday 8PM
The Khyber

Is April the Cruelest Month? Not when it begins with a PBQ reading at the Khyber. Join us for an evening filled with poetry, music, and Philly flavor. Our readers will include Sarah R. Bloom, once known as “The Orchid of the Philadelphia Poetry Scene,” Cecily Kellogg, a widely published poet who has been “writing for as long as she can remember,” and Molly Connors, the Poet Laureate of Lansdowne, PA (she has a plaque to prove this). The evening will end with a performance by The Doctor and Philip, a Philadelphia band that seamlessly blends Americana and Avante-Garde song structures and lyrical vocals. Reading begins at 8 p.m., $5 cover.
