Take the Field: Mithridatic Loafing

The glistening specks,
chrome thru mesh of rust, ran
along the blade once
                                            removed. These poppy blasts
blackened by
                                            lithe feline dawn bursts.

Penelope’s grim leer, the smirk
swerver, the humble braggart and boars auburn bristles,
severed tusks,
                                create a serviceable myth
floating a dilated pupil, a frozen blink.

To defeat strokes of silent swings, we, there
captured, turned to obeli as
orange lepidoptera to nectaries.
