Love Letter

I belive in a universe that trades lives,
recycles souls like the checks and balances
of things done and undone between a husband and a wife.
Did we meet a mix of fate and happenstance?

The weight of the cosmos rests in the relentless whys
of children or within the sleep of mothers
crunching tea saucers behind their eyes.
Have you ever really loved another?

Let's meet in the place I’ve hidden you,
a memory shamed to corners of thoughts,
haunts of imagined time in a closed room,
on a chair or the floor, our limbs lost

into the purple nerves of the night.
You are there: in small glances and buried life.
